Cylinder Head Castings

Whether lifting substantial loads or crushing hard minerals, heavy machinery must tolerate extreme forces repeatedly. These conditions put vital components under duress, eventually causing failure. Improve the lifespan of your industrial equipment with protective cylinder bushings from U.S. Bronze Foundry & Machine.

Advantages of cylinders

A cylinder is a metal tube mounted over a shaft, shaft assembly, or other components. It’s used to safeguard encased components, improving impingement, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, and seal wear.

Also called cylinder bushings or cylinder sleeves, these wearable castings are suitable for any application where a shaft and related devices must be shielded from the environment. Common ones are pumps, compressors, and engines.

The cylinder bushing castings leader

U.S. Bronze Foundry & Machine is a single-source supplier of cylinder sleeves for clients operating heavy machinery worldwide. We perform every metal casting step in-house. Our services include:

  • Research & Design
  • Mold-Making
  • Prototyping
  • Full-Scale Casting
  • Finished Machining
  • Inspection
  • Delivery

We produce cylinders per client specifications with centrifugal and static casting techniques. Built-in automation and controls ensure heightened precision and quality. Our area of expertise is casting large items.

  • Castings up to 35,000 pounds
  • Lengths of up to 80 inches for centrifugally cast parts
  • Outside diameters as large as 158 inches for centrifugally cast parts
  • No size limit for statically cast parts

Our facility has a machine shop with advanced CNC equipment, which permits us to deliver finished castings with exact dimensions. As a result, the lead time associated with secondary processing is greatly shortened. We can machine workpieces with:

  • Outside diameters of 150 inches
  • Lengths of 80 inches
  • Tolerances are +/- .001 inches

Standing behind our work

We approach every job with a quality-first mindset. Material is acquired from reputable suppliers, and compliance is verified upon arrival. Precision testing and inspection equipment ensure every part produced surpasses applicable industry standards or customer specifications. All orders are audited for accuracy before shipment.

For industries that utilize heavy equipment, time is critical. We can produce rough parts as quickly as two weeks and finished pieces as fast as eight weeks, depending on lead time and other factors.

Materials that stand up to wear

An important aspect of every casting project is the material used to make the mold and product.

With decades of casting experience and knowledgeable engineers, we can help you identify the best metal alloys for your application. Those we use frequently include:

  • Bronze And Highly Leaded Bronze
  • Copper
  • Stainless Steel
  • Aluminum
  • Nickel

Other materials are used upon request.

More than bushings

While our primary focus is bushings, we can also make cylinder head castings. The cylinder head sits above cylinders, on top of the cylinder block.

Cylinder heads must withstand tremendous pressures and high temperatures. They’re crucial to controlling airflow in and out of cylinders. Casted custom cylinder heads are a great way to improve application performance.

Client-tailored cylinder solutions

For industrial processing and heavy machinery applications, standard cylinders aren’t always ideal. Factors like equipment age, construction, and location may require parts manufactured to custom sizes or from materials with advanced performance characteristics.

U.S. Bronze Foundry & Machine specializes in the development and production of custom cylinder sleeves. By combining advanced metalworking equipment, highly skilled labor, and expert engineering, we can make cylinder sleeves to suit specific applications.

Custom cast cylinder sleeves can support applications in many industries. Examples are:

  • Crusher Parts
  • Architectural Bronze Castings
  • Heavy Equipment
  • Infrastructure
  • Oil & Gas
  • Military & Defense
  • Mining Equipment
  • Construction Equipment
  • Marine
  • Power Generation
  • Industrial Pumps
