Static Castings

What’s Static Casting?

Static casting is the process of introducing molten metal into a reusable mold to produce solid, one-piece shapes. The mold consists of two or more sections and has an opening. Inside the mold are chambers with the desired product shape or features.

Molten metal is poured into the mold. As the melt cools and solidifies, the mold halves are separated and the finished part is removed.

Benefits of Static Casting

Static casting produces metal parts with optimum accuracy, superior surface finish, and minimal waste. It can handle castings with intricate designs and thin wall sections. Other advantages include:

  • High dimensional precision
  • Exceptional mechanical properties
  • Excellent surface finish
  • Consistent quality

Design, tooling life, and processing make static casting cost-effective for large-scale production. Prototyping is also more affordable than other manufacturing techniques.

State-Of-The-Art Static Casting

U.S. Bronze Foundry & Machine is a leading provider of statically cast custom metal components. With a century of experience, we deliver products with the highest quality. Designs with dimensionally challenging, complex geometries are welcome. We offer the following custom static casting services.

  • Research & Design
  • Mold-Making
  • Prototyping
  • Full-Scale Casting
  • Finished Machining
  • Inspection
  • Delivery

We specialize in big parts for heavy machinery. Our foundry is the leading static bronze casting manufacturer and is one of a few in the world capable of producing components for the largest industrial equipment. It has the following capabilities:

  • Castings up to 35,000 pounds
  • No size limit

Benefits of Static Casting

Static casting utilizes permanent molds, which can be built to hold tight tolerances. This minimizes material waste and after-mold machining.

We manufacture many products with static casting. Examples include:

Cutting Out Waste

To obtain custom parts for unique heavy machinery, it’s common to move parts between supply chain partners. This delays reception and blows budgets, both of which are essential aspects of industrial projects.

U.S. Bronze Foundry & Machine provides a suite of secondary services under one roof, streamlining your supply chain. Our value-added capabilities include:

  • Machining
  • Heat Treatment
  • Metallurgical Testing
  • Non-Destructive Examination, or NDE

Our facility houses a machine shop with advanced CNC equipment, enabling us to deliver finished castings with precise dimensions. We’re capable of machining workpieces with:

  • Outside diameters of 150 inches
  • Lengths of 80 inches
  • Tolerances are +/- .001 inches

Heat treatment can improve material working life, like increasing surface hardness, temperature resistance, ductility, and strength. Metallurgical testing confirms the mechanical and chemical characteristics of materials.

Non-destructive examination checks for imperfections or cracks that can degrade final product performance. Surface and subsurface inspections are performed upon request.

Many industrial processes must withstand wear, corrosion, extreme temperatures, and other degrading factors every day. To overcome these damaging conditions, high-performance materials should be used to manufacture vital components.

As a leading static ferrous and static non-ferrous metal casting manufacturer, we make products from various alloys. Metals we pour into static casting molds include:

We built our reputation as a static bronze casting manufacturer. Bronze and highly leaded bronze castings resist friction and corrosion. They’re also easy to weld when put into service. Other metals can be used upon request.
