Leaded Tin Bronze Alloy C83600

C83600 is a high-leaded tin bronze alloy composed of approximately 83 to 88 percent copper, 4 to 6 percent tin, 6 to 8 percent lead, and small amounts of zinc, nickel, and iron. This well-balanced composition results in a bronze alloy known for its excellent machinability and high performance in a wide range of industrial applications.

Key Characteristics:

  • Outstanding Machinability
  • Good Pressure Tightness
  • Excellent Casting Properties
  • High Corrosion Resistance
  • Moderate Strength
  • Superior Wear Resistance in Low-Speed Applications

Also referred to as CDA 836, C836 Bearing Bronze, or C83600 Leaded Red Brass, this alloy is one of the most commonly used casting bronzes in the foundry industry. Its excellent flow characteristics make it ideal for intricate castings and applications requiring a high degree of detail and dimensional accuracy.

C83600 is particularly well-suited for:

  • Pump housings
  • Valve bodies
  • Gear
  • Bushings
  • Decorative hardware
  • Plumbing and marine components

With its reliable mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, especially in mild acidic and salty environments, C83600 continues to be a preferred choice across both architectural and industrial markets
