Static Castings

What’s Static/Sand Casting?

Static casting is the process of introducing molten metal into a mold to produce solid, one-piece shapes. The mold consists of two or more sections and has an opening. Inside the mold are chambers with the desired product shape or features.

Molten metal is poured into the mold. As the melt cools and solidifies, the mold halves are separated, and the as cast part is removed and prepared for post processing operations. US Bronze offers in-house rough machining and finish machining resources to help meet your project needs.

Benefits of Static/Sand Casting

Static/sand casting produces metal parts with a near net finish and minimal material waste. It can handle castings that require complex geometries. Other advantages include:

  • Reduced machine time
  • Difficult to machine features
  • High repeatability
  • Quick Turnaround

Custom tooling can be supplied with products of larger quantities. Alternatively, consumable tooling allows our foundry to produce your part efficiently and effectively.

State-Of-The-Art Static/Sand Casting

U.S. Bronze Foundry & Machine is a leading provider of statically cast custom metal componentsWith a century of experience, we deliver products of the highest quality. Designs with dimensionally challenging and large geometries are welcome. We offer the following custom static casting services.

  • Research & Design
  • Reverse Engineering
  • Mold-Making
  • Prototyping
  • In-House Engineering
  • Finish Machining
  • Inspection

We specialize in big parts for heavy machinery. Our foundry is the leading static/sand bronze casting manufacturer and is one of a few in the world capable of producing components for the largest industrial equipment. It has the following capabilities:

  • Castings up to 35,000 pounds
  • No size limit

Benefits of Static/Sand Casting

Static/sand casting utilizes permanent molds, which can be built to hold tight tolerances. This minimizes material waste and after-mold machining.

We manufacture many products with static/sand casting. Examples include:

To obtain custom parts for unique heavy machinery, it’s common to move parts between supply chain partners. This delays reception and blows budgets, both of which are essential aspects of industrial projects.

U.S. Bronze Foundry & Machine provides a suite of secondary services under one roof, streamlining your supply chain. Our value-added capabilities include:

  • Machining
  • Heat Treatment
  • Metallurgical Testing
  • Non-Destructive Examination, or NDE

Our facility houses a machine shop with advanced CNC equipment, enabling us to deliver finished castings with precise dimensions. We’re capable of machining workpieces with:

  • Static/Sand Casting Dimensional Envelope of 140” x 140” x 80”
  • Finish tolerances to +/- .001 inches

Heat treatment can improve material working life, like increasing surface hardness, temperature resistance, ductility, and strength. Metallurgical testing confirms the mechanical and chemical characteristics of materials.

Non-destructive examination checks for imperfections or cracks that can degrade final product performance. Surface and subsurface inspections are performed upon request.

Critical parts, quality materials

Wear, corrosion, extreme temperatures, and other degrading factors are part and parcel of industrial processes. Premium materials should be used to manufacture vital components to avoid premature degradation from these environments.
